Alumni Association Life Member Scholarship for Internships

     
 

The Life Member Scholarship for Internships was created by the UMass Amherst Alumni Association to help defray the costs of internships for UMass Amherst students. The program was designed to support the academic and career pursuits of commendable students from diverse campus populations whose records suggest that they will develop into alumni with admirable leadership qualities upon graduation.

Scholarship Criteria:

  • Internship must take place during the summer of 2012, be unpaid and occur away from student's home area (more than 100 miles away).
  • Student must be a current sophomore or junior in good standing with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Top candidates may be interviewed for final selection.
  • Recipient must attend UMass Amherst as a full-time student in the fall 2012 semester.
  • Recipient of scholarship must submit a letter of acceptance for an internship to the Alumni Association by Thursday April 26, 2012 or the scholarship will defer to an alternate recipient. Letter must include immediate supervisor contact information.
  • Recipient must agree to submit a summary of internship experience to the Alumni Association by Friday, September 14, 2012 that may be used in promotional materials.

One recipient will be selected by a committee of UMass Amherst Alumni Association members based on their application and will be awarded $2,000 to help with costs associated with the internship. This scholarship will be credited to the fall 2012 semester. The recipient will be honored at the Alumni Association Scholarships & Awards Reception on Sunday April 8, 2012.
